Tattoo tells all: Craziest crimes of the week
(NEWSER) – A pair of fairly ironic arrests kick off this week's collection of crazy crimes:
- There's a story of fraud behind this Bank of America tattoo: You'd think a man wouldn't soon forget all those times he stole from a bank, but Gabriel Patterson apparently wanted to remember his fraud forever — hence the tattoo of the Bank of America logo on the inside of his left elbow. Now the son of a retired NYPD detective will also have the memory of 33 months in prison. Here's why.
- Cop arrested hours after starring in TV show about cops: A police sergeant in Connecticut arrested a man on domestic violence charges in the first episode of a new TV series called Live PD. That same night, she found herself back in a police car — but this time she was the one arrested under the state's domestic violence law. The unusual situation involves Bridgeport police Sgt. Stacey Lyons. While being filmed for the new A&E reality series, she arrested a man accused of choking his girlfriend. "Domestics are the most dangerous calls a police officer can go on," Lyons told the camera.
- Man at jail to pick up family member gets himself arrested: A 52-year-old New York man was arrested Sunday after allegedly driving drunk to pick up a family member at jail. Police say Rex Crooks showed up at jail to pick up the family member at 6 p.m. Sunday and appeared to be drunk. There was also a bit of a problem with what the scheduled pickup time actually was ... and where Crooks allegedly parked.
- Man stops for food in middle of police chase: A night on the lam can really work up an appetite. Arizona officers tried to pull over 35-year-old Joshua Adkins around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for an outstanding warrant, but police say he refused to stop. A police helicopter followed Adkins as he drove through Phoenix and two suburbs. It even watched as Adkins made a pit stop.
- News anchor arrested for allegedly stealing cop's headphones: A Los Angeles news anchor was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing expensive headphones from a cop while going through an airport security line. A passenger — an off-duty LAPD robbery detective — was going through the security line at Los Angeles International Airport when she noticed her "high-end" headphones worth $200 were missing. Security video allegedly showed KTLA anchor Lu Parker taking the headphones.
