Justin Trudeau, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti take a hike, literally

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti took a leisurely Saturday morning stroll through the city's Griffith Park wrapping up the politician's three-day trip to the Golden State centered around trade.

The hike came after Trudeau's motorcade was involved in a Friday night crash after a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

A California Highway Patrol officer was injured, but Garcetti said the officer would recover from the broken clavicle. Trudeau's vehicle was not involved in the crash.

Dressed in red athletic gear and shorts, the two men spoke briefly to reporters before their hilly march, emphasizing a message of cooperation between the U.S. state and northern neighbor.

"It’s very important for us in this moment, when there is so much supposed division in the world to reinsure that there is friendship and strength," Garcetti said. "We see friendship as a strength and conflict as a weakness."

And that friendship was well on display during the hike. After embarking at a brisk pace, the two men took a selfie with a group of fellow park goers, and each later posted a photo of their excursion on social media.

Trudeau called the chilly hike "awesome" and "beautiful."

"We brought a little Canadian weather to make you feel right at home," Garcetti told his hiking companion, the Los Angeles Times reported. "This isn't Canadian weather," Trudeau responded.

Trudeau's trip centered around Canadian trade with the U.S. as the two countries and Mexico work on renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement. Speaking Friday night, Trudeau praised the free trade deal as a success.
