Woman, 19, dies after New Jersey birthday party shooting, third fatality from 'targeted attack'
FAIRFIELD, N.J. — A 19-year-old woman died Monday night, the third fatality from a "targeted attack" at a weekend birthday party that left 11 others wounded, New Jersey State Police announced late Tuesday.
The third victim, Brailyn Holmes, was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, about 48 hours after Kevin Elliott, 30, and Asia Hester, 25, were killed at the late-night party on Saturday.
Also Tuesday, state police announced a second arrest, charging Darrell Dawkins, 30, with unlawful possession of a handgun.
“The investigation at this time does not reveal that Dawkins is a suspected shooter at the party,” state police said.
Kevin Dawkins, 36, was previously arrested and charged with a weapons offense, state police said.

State police said the shooting began around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The names of the men and women wounded at the party are being withheld.
"This was not a random act of violence," Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said at a Monday news conference, without addressing a potential motive.

Investigators are looking to see whether guns found at the scene "can be linked to other recent acts of violence in the area," Grewal said.
"There's a significant amount of evidence to process," he said.
