Keep the car windows closed: Police said cicada struck driver in the face, caused crash

The cicada invasion was responsible for a Monday crash in Ohio, Cincinnati police police said.

The cicada flew through an open car window, striking the driver in the face, causing a single-car crash in Cincinatti's East End neighborhood, police said in a Twitter post.

The driver suffered minor injuries, but the vehicle sustained heavy damage, CBS reported.

This year's batch of periodical cicadas, known as Brood X, has interfered with travel across the East Coast this season. A swarm infested the exterior hull of the White House press plane Tuesday night, delaying the aircraft's flight by more than six and a half hours.
