1 killed, 5 injured after shooting at birthday party in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed and five were injured in a shooting early Sunday in Indianapolis at what officials believe was a birthday celebration.
Around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the Team One Event Center nightclub on the northwest side of the city.
When officers arrived on scene, authorities said they found one adult male inside the building who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Five additional victims, including four men and one woman, had what officials believe to be non-life threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were taken to area hospitals.
Police believe the birthday party was taking place when a fight broke out and shots were eventually fired both inside and outside the building. According to a Facebook post from Team One Production, the party was taking place until 4 a.m.
No one has been detained in regards to this incident, police said.
