Man's body found inside Food Lion grocery store freezer in Raleigh, NC


The incident is being investigated as a death investigation, said police.

A man's body was found in a freezer at a grocery store in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Tuesday, according to police.

Officers arrived on the scene at 7:05 a.m., after the man's coworkers found his body in the store's supply freezer at a Food Lion, according to a press release Raleigh Police Department emailed to Paste BN.

The man had a medical emergency Monday night before he died inside the freezer, a police officer said, according to local outlet WFMY.

Food Lion releases statement on body found in freezer

"Food Lion is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our associate," a Food Lion spokesperson told Paste BN. "We express our deepest condolences to the associate’s family and friends."

The incident is being investigated as a death investigation, said police. Food Lion stated that it is cooperating with local authorities in the investigation.

"As always, the safety and well-being of customers and associates are daily priorities for Food Lion, and we are committed to ensuring a safe place to work and shop," the spokesperson said. "We are providing resources to support our associates during this difficult time."
