1 person fatally shot after altercation at volleyball courts on University of Arizona campus

Police are searching for a suspect after a student at an area community college was shot and killed on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson on Sunday evening.

According to University of Arizona police, they were informed by the Tucson Police Department of a reported shooting near the Arizona Sonora residential hall shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers responded to a set of volleyball courts near the residence hall and found a "college age male" who had been shot.

According to university police, the shooting happened following "an altercation between several individuals" on the volleyball courts.

Victim was a student at Pima Community College

The victim was reportedly carried to a nearby parking lot but was pronounced dead on scene by responding emergency personnel. According to police, the victim was a student at Pima Community College. No other injuries were reported.

No suspects were reported in custody as of Monday afternoon, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
