Man linked to church burglaries in Pensacola faces more charges after iPhone searches: Police
Pensacola police arrested Jeremy Lang on Oct. 14 and linked him to seven area church robberies through surveillance footage and his 'incriminating' iPhone search history.
A Florida man arrested earlier this month was recently hit with more criminal charges after his cell phone search history assisted in connecting him to seven church burglaries, police said.
Pensacola police arrested Jeremy Lang, 20, on Oct. 14 after he matched the description of a burglary that was caught on surveillance footage the previous week. While searching Lang, the responding officer found a bag of marijuana, a loaded stolen firearm, an orange hammer "window breaker tool," black gloves, a metal tip coat hanger and an iPhone, according to an arrest report obtained by Paste BN.
Lang was subsequently booked in Escambia County Jail and charged with burglary, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, providing a false name to law enforcement, possession of a concealed firearm while under 21 years old, possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent and possession of burglary tools, inmate and court records show.
Police were able to identify Lang and link him to at least seven church burglaries between Sept. 24 and Oct. 12. One of them occurred on Oct. 1 and involved $20 in cash being stolen from the church, while another on Oct. 6 resulted in a pastor's office being ransacked and a mason jar full of change being taken, according to the arrest report.
The burglaries Lang is accused of resulted in hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of damages, the report says. A burglary on Oct. 11 led to a church suffering $2,250 worth of property damage, according to the police document.
