Police in Southern California are investigating an early Halloween morning illegal street racing incident in which a car slammed into a crowd and ran over two people.

Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter said the crash involved the driver of a black Dodge Charger and two pedestrians and took place about 2 a.m. Thursday at East Orangewood Avenue and State College Boulevard.

The city of Anaheim is in Orange County just outside Los Angeles and the incident took place on the south side of Angel Stadium, which is home to the Los Angeles Major League Baseball team.

Sutter said people involved in street racing took over the intersection and, during the ruckus, the Charger struck two 19-year-old pedestrians, one from Orange County and one from Lancaster, a city in northern Los Angeles County about 100 miles northwest of the crash scene.

The driver, police reported, then fled the scene on foot.

Video posted online obtained by Paste BN shows the Charger race along South College Boulevard into the intersection and slide left into a crowd of onlookers, striking several people and pinning at least two under the car.

The Charger comes to a final rest in the middle of the intersection facing the opposite direction.

"Oh, no no no no no!" someone is heard yelling on camera.

The vehicle's tires appear to then spin out, and shortly after, the Charger accelerates several feet forward and appears to run over more pedestrians.

The crowd, visibly angry at the driver's move, is then seen rushing the vehicle, with some kicking the Charger and punching at its windows.

One person is seen jumping onto the vehicle's hood and attempting to kick out its windshield.

"There's still a guy under it," someone is heard saying on the video.

Paste BN has reached out to the person who uploaded the footage to the internet.

Anaheim street racing victims run over taken to hospital

Both pedestrians injured in the vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash were transported to a hospital, police said.

On Friday morning both victims were in stable condition, Sutter said, and no arrest had been made in the case. The Charger also remained at the crime scene, police reported.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Anaheim police non-emergency line at 714-765-1900.
