Missing skydiver found dead miles from landing area after parachute 'failed to deploy'
A skydiver was reported missing by Gilliam Airport and was found dead miles from "the intended landing location", police say.

A missing skydiver was found dead over the weekend after his parachute "failed to deploy," Louisiana authorities say.
The unidentified skydiver − described as an Asian man sporting an orange wingsuit − was reported missing by the Gilliam Airport just before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press release from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said deputies were informed that the man's parachute malfunctioned. The sheriff's office, the Wildlife and Fisheries Department, the Caddo Fire District, Life Air Rescue, and North Caddo Medical Center were involved in search efforts.
Gilliam is a village about 23 miles from the city of Shreveport.
Officials locate missing skydiver
According to the sheriff's office, the skydiver was located hours later, around 3:20 p.m., in an area "a couple of miles from the intended landing location." He was found deceased.
An investigation is ongoing.
Another man injured in skydiving incident in Arizona
In a similar incident over the weekend in Arizona, a man was hospitalized after skydiving, and his canopy collapsed, resulting in a rapid, uncontrolled landing, according to the Arizona Republic, part of Paste BN Network.
