73-year-old man falls to death after intruders break in to NYC apartment, reports say
A New York man fell to his death after multiple intruders entered his Manhattan home early Saturday morning, according to reports.
The incident that led to the death of the 73-year-old man happened on Saturday morning at an apartment building in Washington Heights, a neighborhood in Manhattan, according to multiple local outlets including NBC New York and CBS New York.
The first intruder entered through a window just before 5 a.m. and let two other men inside, local media reported. The suspects allegedly began to tie up the man's 40-year-old son in the sixth-floor apartment.
Suspects reportedly stole cash, jewelry
CBS News New York reported the suspects were captured on surveillance video while entering the building. They reportedly took $200 in cash and a gold chain worth $8,000.
When police responded to the scene, they found the victim, identified by the New York Police Department as 73-year-old Jacinto Remigio, on the second-floor scaffolding, the outlet reported.
Remigio was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, reports say. His son was unharmed.
Police are working to track down the suspects. It's not immediately clear why the apartment was targeted.
