Money stolen from armored truck outside Texas grocery store; police search for suspects
Police are searching for suspects after money was stolen from an armored truck outside of a grocery store in Texas on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred outside an H-E-B grocery store in Sugar Land, a city near Houston, according to a press release posted by the Sugar Land Police Department.
A suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and a security guard "fired at least 2 shots at the vehicle, striking it," police stated. Authorities later located the vehicle.
The department has identified a person of interest and asked the public for assistance in identifying a second suspect, Sugar Land Police Chief Mark Poland said in a statement obtained by Paste BN.
Police posted an update on Wednesday asking anyone who recognizes a man captured on surveillance video to contact them with any information.
No injuries have been reported in connection to this case. It's not clear how much cash was swiped from the armored truck.
"I am thankful the armored truck security guard and citizens were not hurt in this senseless incident," Poland said.
According to the Sugar Land Police Department, the supermarket remained open after the incident. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
