6 dead, including a child, after wrong-way crash in Mississippi
Six people are dead, including a child, after a wrong-way crash in Jackson, Mississippi, according to officials.
At 2:45 a.m. Friday, the Jackson Police Department, Jackson Fire Department and American Medical Response were called to the scene of the crash on Interstate 55 at Daniel Lake Boulevard, according to the Jackson police department.
The driver, a 23-year-old man, of a Chevrolet Silverado, drove south in the northbound lane and collided with a Hyundai Sonata carrying five people, including the driver.
Both drivers and the Hyundai's four passengers, including a 6-year-old boy, were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, a police spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Paste BN.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this tragic event,” the spokesperson said.
Police have not released what might have caused the crash or the victims' identities.
