July 2024 brought about the most turbulent Presidential campaign season the nation had seen. Sitting President Joe Biden dropped out of the race to be replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. Former President Trump, who remained consistent in his campaigning, survived an assassination attempt at a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, and then five days later headed to the Republican National Convention. Trump accepted the nomination with his ear bandaged from a wound sustained during the assassination attempt.
