October 2024 in photos: Paste BN's most memorable pictures of the year
Hurricanes and storms usually take over the month of October. However, this year, another unexpected storm shook up the nation. Midwestern Princess Chappell Roan, otherwise known as "your favorite artist's favorite artist," rolled into the music scene, performing her song "Pink Pony Club "from her debut solo studio album "The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess." Austin-American Statesman photographer Sara Diggins photographed Chappell during the Austin City Limits 2024 music festival. "We knew Chappell was going to be the biggest, buzziest act of the festival and the photos we got would be important to telling the story of Austin City Limits 2024. I was excited to photograph her but a little nervous- the photo pit would be crowded, competition to get the right angles would be steep and we knew the crowd would be insane. But there was no need for nerves. The magic of a Texas sunset, the energy of Chappell, the excitement of the crowd as well as the kindness and positivity of my colleagues in the photo pit truly made the experience so special and a memory I'll cherish. To me, that day was about photographers uplifting each other as we work, rather than competing. We were all looking out for one another cause we knew it was a high pressure moment."
