3 firefighters hurt after Brightline train strikes fire truck in Delray Beach, FL
Three firefighters were hospitalized Saturday after a Brightline train collided with a Delray Beach Fire Rescue truck, according to local officials.
The department told Paste BN in an email that the firefighters were in stable condition. The department said that 12 passengers from the train were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. local time, according to officials. Delray Beach Fire Chief Ronald Martin told the NBC affiliate WPTV that there was a service call in the area but did not confirm if the truck was involved with the call.
The train company posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the service was experiencing "limited delays." The company's website shows multiple delays and cancellations.
Investigation into cause of crash underway
Department officials said that an investigation involving the Delray Beach Police Department and officials from Brightline is underway.
Representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board said in an email to Paste BN that the Board is "gathering factual information" about the incident but not launching an investigation.
Paste BN has reached out to Brightline for comment.
