Times Square visitors say ‘good riddance to 2024’
Attendees of the 18th annual Good Riddance Day event wrote and erased the things they planned to leave behind in the new year.
The last big party of the year is underway across the country.
The epicenter of celebrations was rumbling in Times Square as over a million people are expected to cram into the heart of Manhattan to watch the ball drop Tuesday night.
The first celebrations held at the former Longacre Square took place in 1904, while the ball was first dropped in 1907 − according to the Times Square website.
Multiple broadcasts will emanate from the scene, capturing the sight of the descending 11,875-pound Waterford Crystal ball.
Here is a look at the scenes from Times Square on New Year's Eve 2024.
