Snow blankets Midwest, East amid powerful storm. How much has fallen so far?
A ferocious winter storm has brought historic snowfall amounts to the Midwest and is expected to pile up to a foot of snow in Washington D.C.
The storm has broken daily snowfall records in Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and West Virginia and could knock down other records as it continues to disrupt road and air travel and shutter schools and government office buildings. In central New York, preliminary 24-hour snow totals topped a staggering 5 feet.

- Saint George, Kansas – 18 inches
- Thompson Pass, Arkansas – 17 inches
- Kansas City, Missouri – 12 inches
- Cincinnati, Ohio – 8.4 inches
- Pendleton County, West Virginia – 8 inches
- Louisville, Kentucky – 7.7 inches
Anticipated snow amounts, up to 12 inches possible in DC, Baltimore
Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. could see as much as 12 inches of snow from the storm. Below is the forecasted amount of snow expected over the Mid-Atlantic region, according to the Baltimore-Washington National Weather Service office.
- Annapolis, Maryland – 11 inches
- Alexandria, Virginia – 6 to 10 inches
- Washington D.C. – 6 to 10 inches
- Baltimore, Maryland – 7 inches
- Atlantic City, New Jersey – 7 inches
