San Diego County firefighters were working to contain the Lilac Fire, one of three brush fires that broke out early Tuesday morning prompting evacuation orders, school closures and power shutoffs across the region.

The Lilac Fire, the largest of the three, has displaced 86 residents and two structures in Bonsall, a small community about 45 minutes north of San Diego, California.

Fire crews were able to make significant progress, writing in an update that its forward rate of spread had been stopped. The Lilac Fire was 10% contained by 8 a.m. local time Tuesday, about seven hours after the fire was first reported.

"Firefighters are making good progress on the fire," according to a recent incident report from Cal Fire. "The fire activity has decreased significantly."

Firefighters were also able to get the other two fires, Pala Fire, which burned 17 acres of land north of the city of Pala Mesa and the Riverview Fire under control. Evacuation orders associated with the Pala Fire were lifted after firefighters to stop the forward progress of the blaze, while the Riverview Fire scorched only one acre of land before firefighters contained it.

"Two of the three fires that started overnight are now under control. However, the Lilac Fire is still actively burning at 80 acres," Jim Desmond, a San Diego County supervisor, wrote in a Facebook post. "Please stay alert, follow official updates, and be prepared to leave if necessary. Our first responders are working tirelessly to protect lives and property."
