'Unclothed' California man taken into custody in Oregon for felony arrest warrant: Police

The nationwide felony arrest warrant for Salvador Edward Juarez included assault with a deadly weapon and trespassing charges.

An Oregon sheriff's office took an "unclothed" California man into custody for a nationwide felony arrest warrant, according to the local agency.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office arrested Salvador Edward Juarez, a 50-year-old from Shasta County, after receiving information about his warrant on Jan. 18 from the Redding Police Department in California, the agency said in a Facebook post last week.

Juarez was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and trespass, according to the sheriff's office. Once deputies learned that Juarez was staying at a private property east of Bend, they executed a search warrant to look for evidence of any crimes he allegedly committed in Oregon and California, the agency said.

According to Shasta County Court records, Juarez is also facing an attempted murder charge. Court records do not show a defense attorney listed for Juarez.

Salvador Edward Juarez taken into custody naked, without incident

The sheriff's office's SWAT Team and the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team were able to find Juarez on Jan. 19 after initiating a surveillance operation at the private property, according to the social media post. Once the agencies developed a plan to take the wanted man into custody, within minutes, multiple armored rescue vehicles swarmed a surrendering and naked Juarez, the sheriff's office said.

After Juarez was taken into custody without incident for the felony warrant, he was subsequently taken back to California on Jan. 21 where he remains in Shasta County Jail with a $1 million bond, inmate records show.

Juarez is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 5, according to Shasta Country Court records.
