A doctor's home was burned down. Now, another doctor is reportedly being charged with arson.
An Ohio doctor is being charged with arson after authorities said he set another local doctor’s house on fire, according to reports.
Dr. Andrew Campbell, 33, was charged in connection to a Dec. 7 fire at the home of another doctor, according to ABC News and television station WTVG.
Officials told ABC News they "determined to have not been accidental in nature”, and a grand jury indicted Campbell on six counts of aggravated arson Tuesday, Feb. 12.
According to authorities, there may be a connection between the doctor who owns the home, Dr. Tahir Jamil, and Campbell’s wife. According to ABC News, Jamil told police he and Campbell's wife had an affair between late July to early August 2024.
The Sylvania Township Police Department deferred Paste BN to the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office for comments Thursday. The prosecutor's office said in a statement to Paste BN Thursday that Campbell is scheduled for arraignment at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24.
The office declined to comment further because the case is ongoing.
It was not clear Thursday morning who is representing Campbell in court.
Doctors worked at the same university
Campbell, who was charged with arson, is a fellow in the University of Toledo’s Hematology-Oncology program, a spokesperson for the university confirmed to Paste BN Thursday morning.
He was placed on administrative leave without pay on Dec. 20, after the university found out about the charges.
Jamil is a clinical associate professor in the university’s College of Medicine and Life Sciences, the university confirmed.
Jamil was placed on administrative leave from his unpaid, volunteer faculty position on Jan. 16 pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of improper conduct, the university confirmed to Paste BN.
The university said Jamil is not an employee of the university or the University of Toledo Medical Center. He is not a provider at the school’s hospital, the spokesperson said.
The university declined to make additional comments on the case.
