The family of a 78-year-old California woman filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Trump International Hotel Las Vegas alleging she died after being "violently ejected" from a revolving door while visiting two years ago

According to the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, Diana Truschke was a guest and patron at the hotel on or around March 21, 2023. During her visit, the woman attempted to exit through a revolving door at the hotel's front entrance, the complaint obtained by Paste BN reads.

As Truschke reached the side of the revolving door that faces outward and away from the hotel, the door sped up and struck the woman from behind, the lawsuit says. The force caused Truschke to be ejected from the revolving door and thrown several feet, ultimately resulting in her falling to the sidewalk on her face, according to the complaint.

Truschke's family alleges in the lawsuit that the hotel's revolving door did not "conform or comply with the safety regulations and statutes concerning the operation and maintenance of revolving doors." Employees at the hotel also should have known about the broken revolving door before Truschke's death, the complaint says.

Paste BN contacted Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on Saturday but has not received a response.

'Truschke was in reasonably good health'

Despite receiving "extensive medical treatment," Truschke's health continued to deteriorate, according to the complaint. She died on Oct. 14, 2024.

According to the lawsuit, Truschke's son, John Truschke, is the appointed special administrator and sole heir to her estate. The estate seeks damages over $15,000 for Truschke's "pain, suffering, loss of earning potential, and other damage during her lifetime," the complaint reads.

"Before she fell and was injured, Ms. Truschke was in reasonably good health and had a good prognosis," the lawsuit says. "But for (Trump International Hotel Las Vegas') negligence, Ms. Truschke would have remained able-bodied, and physically capable of engaging in all activities for which she was otherwise suited."
