Man arrested after woman whispers 'help me' to Amazon delivery driver in Florida
A man was arrested and charged with felony battery in Florida after a woman sought help from an Amazon delivery driver, who alerted the police.
Frank Mandolini, 43, was arrested on Friday after an Amazon delivery driver called 911 to report that "while making a delivery a female whispered 'help me' to him," according to an Indian River County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit.
Authorities responded to the address around 4:45 p.m. local time and a deputy with the sheriff's office arrived at the home to find the woman who "appeared in distress and had obvious red marks on her neck," sitting on the front porch with Mandolini, the affidavit said.
The woman told authorities that she and Mandolini, who had been divorced for 7 years but were still living together as a family unit, were lying in bed when she "confronted Frank about his phone and tablet" and "accused him of using them to talk to other women or watching porn." The accusation infuriated Mandolini, who then allegedly grabbed her by the neck, dragged her to the floor and began choking her. The woman said Mandolini only let her go when she begun to "lose consciousness and almost blacked out."
Affidavit: Man admits he 'did choke her'
Mandolini later, while en route to jail, admitted to the deputy that he "did choke her but did not cause her to lose her breath." He also wanted the deputy to document he did commit the offense he was being charged with, the affidavit said.
Mandolini was charged with one count of felony battery domestic violence by strangulation. He was taken to jail and later posted a $30,000 bond on March 31. He is set to be arraigned on June 5, per court records and was ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
This is not the first time Mandolini has faced charges of domestic violence battery. He also faced similar charges in 2020. However, those were later dropped, and the case was closed.
Court documents revealed that a female child was also present at the residence when authorities arrived and that the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.
An attorney for Mandolini was not listed in court documents.
