Friday sees the first of 11 dates in May that can be written as a palindrome, or dates that read the same forward and backward, according to the Farmer's Almanac.

Palindrome dates are believed to be lucky, as they are rare, the almanac says.

The pattern will reoccur in June next year as the “6” representing the month and the 26th at the end of the month creates the conditions for a palindrome to be created.
