Distressing footage shows lightning striking a Colleyville, Texas home, sparking a fire.

In the video, there is a loud boom before a cloud of black smoke fills the air and flames erupt. The incident reportedly occurred at about 2 p.m. on May 5.

According to a GoFundMe created for homeowners Annie and Eric Dries, the fire started on the second floor near their children's bedrooms. Annie's parents and a healthcare worker were also present.

Local news reported that a total of seven people were inside the home during the incident. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

The family has "been displaced and put in a hotel until they find a long term rental while their home is fixed," the fundraiser stated.

Thousands raised for family

The owner told WFAA that the ceiling fell in the kitchen while she was with her parents and the healthcare worker.

The family's neighbors created the GoFundMe, which raised nearly $21,000 as of the time of publication.

Colleyville is about 30 miles from Dallas. The tragedy occurred amid severe weather conditions this week that caused significant damage in different parts of the state.
