14-year-old charged for reckless driving, leading officers on pursuit in Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania teen is facing several charges after police say he attempted to evade officers by leading them on a high-speed pursuit.
According to the Mount Joy Borough Police Department, officers responded to an individual recklessly driving in Lancaster County on May 6.
Police say the driver, identified as a 14-year-old, was unlicensed and accused him of putting bystanders in danger during the chase by "traveling off the roadway onto the sidewalk where pedestrians were walking, nearly striking them."
Officers also allege that the teen didn't pause at a stop sign and drove in the wrong direction on the road.
The teen did not have permission to drive the vehicle, police say
Police said the teen from Harrisburg did not have consent to drive the vehicle.
The 14-year-old was arrested and charged with reckless driving, disregarding a traffic lane, duties at the stop sign, and driving without a license, police said.
He was also hit with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and recklessly endangering another person.
Mount Joy is about 87 miles from Philadelphia.
