A Houston man was arrested after being accused of killing his stepbrother, who had come by his family's home that day to take their mother out for Mother's Day.

Charles Storey, 50, is accused of shooting Eduardo Alfaro Jr., 32, at their mother's home in north Houston, Harris County Sheriff's Office said on May 11.

Deputies responded to the home after receiving a weapons disturbance call around 7:30 p.m. CT on May 10 and found Alfaro with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff's office.

Alfaro was pronounced dead at the scene, and Storey was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail, the department said.

"Mom lost two sons on Mother’s Day," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in an X post about the alleged incident.

Charles Storey allegedly shot stepbrother 'possibly during a drinking binge'

According to Gonzalez, Alfaro found Storey in their mother's home "possibly during a drinking binge."

"What should’ve been a pleasant evening between mother and son, instead turned deadly," Gonzalez wrote, adding that Alfaro had gone to the home to take his mother out to celebrate Mother's Day.

Before the shooting, an argument occurred between the two brothers while their mother was also in the home, according to the sheriff. Storey was on the scene when deputies arrived, he added.

Storey did not appear on the Harris County inmate locator on the afternoon of May 11, and it is unclear if he has legal representation.
