After protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles sparked a mass military response, similar demonstrations erupted in other cities around the country.

The nationwide turmoil stemmed from Immigration and Customs Enforcement sweeps to detain immigrants living in the United States without legal status under the directive of President Donald Trump.

In Los Angeles, Trump ordered members of the National Guard and Marines to quell protests. California Gov. Gavin Newsom filed a lawsuit on June 9 against the Trump administration, alleging the military response was an overstep of authority.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass enacted a partial curfew in the city from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday to curb ongoing looting related to the protests. The Los Angeles Police Department said shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday that "mass arrests" were being initiated for those still congregating in the curfew area.

Meanwhile, protesters in other cities followed suit. From major metros like New York City and Chicago to smaller areas like Columbus, Ohio, and Des Moines, Iowa, here's a look at nationwide demonstrations.
