A shooting at a corporate office building in Midtown Manhattan left four people dead and five injured, New York officials said Monday afternoon, July 28.
The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said at a news conference. There is no longer a threat to the public.
Police urged the public to avoid the area of East 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue due to police activity.
The rush-hour attack occurred at the building known as 345 Park Ave, officials confirmed. The high-rise skyscraper houses major tenants, including KPMG to the National Football League.
"Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific act and their families. We are incredibly grateful for the bravery of building security and law enforcement," KPMG said in a statement to Paste BN.
Paste BN reached out to the NFL for comment, but did not receive a response as of Monday evening.
Commercial giant Rudin Management owns the high rise structure. The building was designed by Fox & Fowle Architects, according to Rudin Management.
