Sunday news lineup: Clinton e-mails, Iran letter

Hillary Rodham Clinton's e-mails and efforts to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons are the political stories of the week, and they'll get most of the attention from the Sunday morning news shows.

New allegations of misconduct in the Secret Service and the week's events in Ferguson, Mo., will also get coverage across the dial.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, will make appearances on the Fox and NBC networks to discuss Clinton's use of a private e-mail server to conduct official business while she was secretary of State. His committee has subpoenaed her e-mails as part of its investigation into the attack on a U.S. Consulate in Libya in 2012.

The Iran nuclear talks are in the news because of a letter from 47 Republican senators to Iranian leaders in an attempt to undermine President Obama, who is trying to get a nuclear agreement with the help of five other world powers. The letter warned Iran that any nuclear deal may not be honored by the United States.

The lineups:

CBS' Face the Nation, on which Paste BN's Susan Page will appear, will focus on the Iran letter beginning with its author, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., will give the Democratic perspective. Finally, Cornell William Brooks, president of the NAACP, and Sherrilyn Ifill, president of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, will discuss race relations in the wake of protests in Ferguson, Mo., and Madison, Wis.

NBC's Meet the Press features an interview with retired Navy admiral Michael Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who will discuss Iran and the Islamic State. Gowdy will discuss Clinton's e-mails. Other guests include Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., who will focus on Iran, and former congressman Barney Frank, D-Mass., who will discuss his book Frank: A Life in Politics from the Great Society to Same-Sex Marriage.

William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., will discuss events in the St. Louis suburb after a scathing Justice Department report, the shooting of two police officers and the resignation of top city officials this week.
