The House committee investigating the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, will meet Monday at 1 p.m. to vote on potential recommendations to the Justice Department to prosecute suspects for their roles.

The committee will weigh in on the conduct of former President Donald Trump and a constellation of former advisers and allies who sought to deny President Joe Biden's election. The recommendations would be non-binding, but the Justice Department has a special counsel investigating the riot and the effort to overturn the 2020 election.

Rep. Adam Schiff, a member of the Jan. 6 committee, told CNN’s State of the Union that the panel will also consider potential actions against lawmakers who ignored congressional subpoenas.

“We have weighed, what is the remedy for members of Congress? Is it a criminal referral to another branch of government or is it better that the Congress police its own?” said Schiff, D-Calif.

The Jan. 6 committee will release its final report Dec. 21.

The House has already impeached Trump on charges he incited the insurrection, but he was acquitted in a Senate trial. Several members of the committee have suggested he could face criminal charges for inciting the violence.
