OnPolitics: Chris Christie talks path to victory, Trump indictments with Paste BN
Hi OnPolitics readers! Former New Jersey governor and 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie visited Paste BN’s offices Thursday for a wide-ranging interview in which he discussed the path to victory in New Hampshire and the legal challenges facing former President Donald Trump.
What to know: Christie is behind Trump by more than 30 points and sitting in fourth place in the Republican primary field, according to a recent Granite State Poll. Christie, who was a Trump ally before becoming the former president's most vocal critics, said that he is confident that his fortunes will change by the time primary voters go to cast their ballots.
"If you remember back to 2016, Trump was never ahead in a poll, ever," he said. "People were reluctant to say they were for Trump when a pollster called because it wasn't really politically correct to say you're for Trump."
"Now, it is not politically correct to say you're against Donald Trump," Christie added.
Christie has made attacking Trump the focus of his 2024 presidential bid in the early weeks of the campaign.
