Do I need to register to vote?

Yes, if you have not registered to vote in Nebraska, you need to do so. You can check your registration status here. 

How do I do that?

You can register to vote online here. Potential voters can also register by mail by filing out this form and mailing it to their county election officials or register in person at their county election office. People who are registering to vote for the first time by mail must provide a copy of a current and valid photo ID, or a copy of a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document which is dated within 60 days immediately prior to the date of presentation showing the same name and residence address provided on the voter registration application.   

What's the deadline?

The registration deadline for the general election differs depending on format. If you are registering to vote via mail, your registration form must be mailed and postmarked on or before the third Friday before an election. In person registration must be completed before 6 p.m. on the second Friday before the election.  

Where do I find out where my polling site is?

To find a polling site, you can ask your county clerk/ election commissioner or find it on this site. You can also find out your polling location when you register or re-register to vote. 

Can I vote by mail?

Yes, Nebraskans can vote by mail. Registered voters can fill out this form to request a ballot by mail. A request for an absentee ballot must be received by 6pm the second Friday before an election, or Oct. 25. 

What's the latest date I can turn in my ballot?

All absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 pm Central Time or 7:00 pm Mountain Time on Election Day (Nov. 5). 

Is there a way I can track my ballot?

Voters can track their absentee ballots using this site.  

What if I need help getting to the polling site?

If you are unable to vote at your designated polling site in Nebraska you can request an absentee ballot, vote early at a county election office, request a ballot be sent to your hospital or long-term care facility or have an agent apply for your ballot and deliver it to you. There is also an option for curbside voting if you are not able to get out of your car. Find out more about accessibility here.
