Trump has been announcing his Cabinet picks. Who are the current Cabinet members?
President-elect Donald Trump has been revealing his choices for Cabinet all week, including many unorthodox picks that have sparked bipartisan concern.
Some of those choices include prominent anti-vaccine activist and former environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to helm the Department of Health and Human Services and former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, a lawmaker who has both been critical of and investigated by the Justice Department as attorney general.
Trump’s nominee picks, once confirmed, will replace President Joe Biden’s Cabinet, which will remain in place until Jan. 20, 2025.
What is the Cabinet?
The Cabinet was established by the U.S. Constitution, and its role is to advise the president on the subject relating to each member’s respective office. It includes the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments: the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, and the Attorney General.
Biden’s Cabinet also includes the White House Chief of Staff, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, the Director of National Intelligence, and the US Trade Representative, as well as the heads of the Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Management and Budget, Council of Economic Advisers, Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Small Business Administration.
