Rep. Cory Mills under investigation by Washington, DC police over alleged assault

Police in Washington, D.C. are investigating Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., over an alleged assault that occurred this earlier week.

According to a police report obtained by Paste BN, officers responded to an apartment complex in Washington around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday after officers were called to the area for a reported assault.

The report describes the investigation as a “simple assault” by use of hands or feet.

Mills’ office denied the allegations in a statement sent to Paste BN.

“This week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Mills’ residence,” the statement said. “Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly.”

Police said the matter is an active criminal investigation and no arrests or charges have been made, as of Friday.

The 44-year-old congressman is in his second term in office representing Florida's 7th Congressional District.
