Sen. Kevin Cramer recovering at home after falling and suffering a concussion, brain bleed

WASHINGTON – Sen. Kevin Cramer is recovering at his home in North Dakota after falling on ice and suffering a concussion and brain bleed.
Cramer, 64, a Republican, wrote in a Facebook post on Monday that he was walking on a hill in his backyard when he stepped on ice and fell, hitting the back of his head.
“I do not remember anything from the fall until arriving at Sanford Health emergency room” with his wife Kris, Cramer wrote.
“After seeing the emergency doctor, taking some tests, including a CT Scan, and seeing a neurologist, I was diagnosed with a severe concussion, a seizure, and a slight brain bleed," he added. "The wound on my head wouldn’t stop oozing, so the doctor punched a couple of staples on the laceration and admitted me."
Kramer said he doesn’t know when he will return to Washington because doctors told him to “rest a little longer.” His post included a photo of the wound.
“It will be day to day this week, but I am ready to return quickly if events require it,” he said.
The fall follows a rocky few months for Cramer, after his 43-year-old son was sentenced to 28 years in prison in December for a car chase that resulted in the death of a sheriff's deputy.
Cramer has been serving in the Senate since 2019. He was re-elected to a second term last year.
