Rep. Thomas Massie Tuesday night cast the lone Republican 'no' vote against a budget bill that would pave the way for President Donald Trump's legislative agenda.

The budget bill passed the House 217-215 and would set out a total amount of money Congress could spend to implement Trump's priorities.

Massie, the Republican from Garrison who represents Northern Kentucky, voted against the measure because it didn't cut the federal deficit enough.

"We have no plan whatsoever to balance the budget other than growth, but what they're proposing is to make the deficit worse," said Massie, according to USA Today. Massie wears a pin on his lapel displaying the total federal debt constantly ticking up.

Massie was one of four Republicans who initially said they didn't support the bill. Another Cincinnati-area congressman, Rep. Warren Davidson, switched his vote from no to yes.

Davidson, in a post on the social media site X on Tuesday, said he changed his vote after he received assurances there would be cuts to discretionary spending by March 14.
