Iowa voter gets filled-in ballot

URBANDALE, Iowa — A voter in Iowa received a ballot Tuesday that was already filled in for the Democratic Party, election officials confirmed.

The ballot is believed to be a mistake and not an example of foul play, Polk County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald said. He said election officials think it was filled out by a different voter but not entered into the polling station's vote counting machine, which put the ballot out of place.

The ballot was found in the Urbandale 5 precinct. It was the only instance of a ballot being filled out before entering a voter's hand, a spokesman for the Iowa Secretary of State's office said.
