Greg Pence, brother of Mike Pence, will not seek reelection to the House

WASHINGTON — Rep. Greg Pence, R-Ind., the brother of former Vice President Mike Pence, announced Tuesday he will not seek reelection to Indiana’s 6th Congressional District.

“In 2017, I ran for Congress because I was Ready to Serve Again,” Pence wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “As a former Marine Officer, I approached the job with purpose. After three terms, I’ve made the decision to not file for reelection.”

Greg Pence is the latest in a series of lawmakers who have announced they would depart or retire from Congress, citing reasons such as divisive politics or wanting to spend time with family.

Pence was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019 after working in the private sector, according to his website. He held roles at Kiel Brothers Oil Company, Marathon Oil Corporation, Unocal Corporation and Circle K Stores, Inc.

He currently serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Pence said in the statement that for the remainder of his term this year, his team will focus on “delivering outstanding constituent services.”

“To the voters in Indiana’s 6th District - it is a privilege and honor to represent you in our Nation’s capital,” Pence wrote.
