Sen. Jacky Rosen coasts to victory in Nevada's 2024 Democratic primary

U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen won easily in Nevada’s Democratic primary Tuesday, getting 92% of the vote against two little-known candidates while raising more than $19 million.

It’s expected to be a tight race in November against her Republican challenger, Sam Brown.

Rosen’s campaign has promoted her as one of Congress’ most bipartisan members.

She was asked by Nevada Democrat Harry Reid to run in 2016, eventually besting Republican Danny Tarkanian in the general election. She lives in Henderson.

"Nevadans know my record of working across party lines to get results and taking on special interests to lower costs – it’s why I’m ranked one of the most bipartisan, independent, and effective members of the Senate. I’m proud of the work I’ve done with both parties to rebuild our infrastructure with good-paying jobs, support our veterans, and invest in local law enforcement," she said.

“My opponent is a MAGA extremist who will say anything to get elected. Sam Brown’s far-right agenda of banning abortion even in the case of rape or incest, phasing out Social Security and Medicare, abolishing the Department of Education, and reviving Yucca Mountain as a nuclear waste dump would be a disaster for Nevada and hardworking families across our state.

“Voters will have a clear choice in this race between a Senator who always puts Nevadans first and a politician who only moved here a few years ago just to run for office. I’ll stand up to anyone to get things done for our state, but Brown will always put partisan politics and corporate special interests ahead of doing what’s right for Nevada.”

Her opponents Troy Walker and Mike Schaefer got 3.4% and 2.3%, respectively, and 2.6% of voters picked None of These Candidates.
