Did Lee Greenwood sing at the Republican National Convention? Tennessee artist returns to the RNC stage

It might have seemed like a bit of déjà vu on Thursday as Lee Greenwood once again sang at the Republican National Convention with fellow Tennesseans Sixwire before Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took the stage.

Greenwood brought back his song " God Bless the USA" on Thursday night as Trump took the stage of the RNC for the first time to accept the presidential nomination. Trump praised Greenwood saying, "what a great talent," as the Nashville vocalist finished his song.

On Tuesday, Greenwood sang "Holdin' a Good Hand" after already using his well-known hit "God Bless the USA" on Monday when former President Trump made his first public appearance since a shooting at his Pennsylvania rally that left him and two others injured, and another man dead.

The song was the only one that Greenwood sang on Tuesday, before closing out with, "Let's re-elect Donald Trump as the next president of the United States."

On Monday, Greenwood had even more to say.

"Prayer works. This nation based on faith. Prayer works. Because He was sure, as Donald Trump turned his head just slightly, that the bullet missed him just enough to save his life to be the next president of the United States," Greenwood said.

Greenwood, a Nashville area country musician whose hit song “God Bless the USA” inspired a Bible with a similar namesake and also a longtime Trump supporter, continued to speak as he sang Monday. Calling on the convention to remember what they were there for, to get Trump reelected in November.

"You will not take this man down. He has the courage, the strength and he will be the next president of the United States," Greenwood said.
