Yes, Barack Obama is going to endorse Kamala Harris; it's just a matter of time
WASHINGTON - Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama have been in regular contact and a formal endorsement of her fast-moving 2024 bid for the White House is coming soon, sources said Thursday.
Obama "is serving as a sounding board for her as he has over the 20 years they’ve known each other," said a person familiar with the discussions.
The former Democratic president believes Harris "has had an impressive week," and they are looking for the right moment for the endorsement, the person said.
While Harris has racked up a series of endorsements since President Joe Biden withdrew on Snuday from the race, Republican candidate Donald Trump and allies have noted the relative silence of Obama.
Obama has held off while the party organizes its new nomination process, and praises Biden for agreeing to step aside.
In recent days, Obama has praised his Democratic successor.
"Joe Biden has stayed true to these words again and again over a lifetime of service to the American people," Obama said on the X social media site after the president's address on Wednesday.
