When is the Democratic National Convention? How to watch Harris accept the nomination

The Democratic National Convention will kick off Monday as Vice President Kamala Harris, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and the Democratic Party make their case for the White House.
The event follows last month's Republican National Convention in Milwaukee when former President Donald Trump formally accepted his nomination as the Republican presidential candidate and announced Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate.
Here's what to know about the DNC.
How to watch DNC 2024
The Democratic National Convention will begin on Monday, Aug. 19, and conclude on Thursday, Aug. 22. The main programming of the convention, which typically includes speeches from recognizable politicians, happens each evening. A detailed list of speakers and time slots was not yet available.
The convention will be streamed on more than a dozen platforms, including TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
A live stream will also be available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Roku and FireTV apps, along with Twitch, Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter.

Where is the DNC 2024?
The 2024 DNC will take place in Chicago for the first time since 1996 when Former President Bill Clinton accepted the nomination for his second term.

Who will attend the DNC 2024?
Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly selected running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, will both speak during this year's convention. Convention attendees are also expected to hear speeches from President Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
The entire list and schedule of speakers has not yet been released, but Walz is scheduled to speak Wednesday night and Harris will accept the nomination on Thursday evening.
Why this year's convention won't formally nominate the Democratic candidate
The DNC, like the RNC, typically hosts a roll-call vote to formally select the party nominees. However, Harris and Walz were officially nominated earlier through an online roll-call vote.
Therefore, the main activities at this year’s convention will focus on speeches and confirming the party platform.
