Penn. Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta goes after Project 2025 in speech at DNC convention: Watch


Pennsylvania Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta was among the first guests to speak on Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Kenyatta has served as the Pennsylvania State Representative for the 181st district since 2019.

The Democratic National Committee convention is in Chicago form Monday, Aug. 19 to Thursday, Aug. 22. Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday is scheduled to formally accept the party's nomination for the 2024 Election.

  • Who is he: Kenyatta is running for re-election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to represent District 181. He is on the ballot for the general election on Nov. 5, Ballotpedia says.
  • What role he plays: According to his website, April 2024, Kenyatta became the, "Democratic nominee for Auditor General, marking the first time an openly LGBTQ+ person was nominated for statewide office by a political party in Pennsylvania."
  • Key quote: "It's just our turn to stand up for working people and to stand up for our nation's promise," he said.

When and where is the DNC

The convention will air live on its website, from the United Center in Chicago between 6:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern (5:15 p.m. to 10 p.m Central) on Monday, and 7 p.m to 11 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central) the other days.

The DNC announced nightly themes for the convention. The title of the convention is "For the People, For Our Future."

  • Monday: "For the People"
  • Tuesday: "A Bold Vision for America's Future"
  • Wednesday: "A Fight for our Freedoms"
  • Thursday: "For our Future"
