'We broke up with you for a reason' Hakeem Jeffries calls Donald Trump an ex-boyfriend
Watch House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries speak on the third night of the DNC
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) spoke on the third night of the Democratic National Convention to express his support for Vice President Kamala Harris and compare former president Donald Trump to an ex-boyfriend who wants to get back together.
During his speech, Jeffries also said President Joe Biden will go down in history as one of the most consequential leaders to hold office. He said Harris will follow in Biden's footsteps as a courageous, compassionate and common sense leader.
"Trump tried to destroy our democracy by lying about the election and inciting a violent mob to attack the Capitol. Trump put three extreme justices on the Supreme Court who destroyed Roe v Wade. We broke up with you for a reason," Jeffries said.
The Democratic National Committee convention is in Chicago through Thursday and on the final day, Harris is scheduled to formally accept the party's nomination for the 2024 Election.
