Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., a staunch Donald Trump supporter, called out someone in his entourage for a racist online post about Vice President Kamala Harris.

Greene was responding to a post on X, formerly Twitter, from Trump surrogate and far-right media figure Laura Loomer, which included racist remarks about Harris’ Indian ancestry if she won the Nov. 5 election, including “the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center.”

“This is appalling and extremely racist,” Greene’s reply states. “It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever.”

Greene also called on Loomer to take the post down.

“Her rhetoric and her tone does not match the base, does not match MAGA, it does not match most Republicans I know,” Greene also told reporters at the U.S. Capitol. “I am completely denouncing it; I’m over it.”

Loomer, who commands a following of 1.2 million people on X, previously suggested the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks were an inside job by sharing a video last year on X that promoted that conspiracy theory. She has since changed her position and told CNN in an interview published on Thursday that the attacks were carried out by "Islamic terrorists."

A Floridian who has twice unsuccessfully run for Congress, Loomer's views caused her then-Twitter account to be banned, a decision that was reversed after Elon Musk bought the company.

Racism in politics: Immigrants-eat-pets trope is a century-old stereotype and 'very old racism'

Conservative firebrand MTG previously criticized by party for white nationalist ties

Greene is a firebrand conservative who was elected in 2020 and became well-known for making inflammatory remarks.

Earlier this year, an exchange with Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, went viral when Greene said, “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” which Crockett called Greene a racist.

Greene also attempted to oust Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson after he passed a foreign aid package for Ukraine.

In 2022, Greene spoke before a meeting of white nationalists who support Russian President Vladimir Putin, drawing a rebuke from the leader of the Republican National Committee.

Greene defended her appearance at the time by saying she focused her speech on “God and Liberty” and would not get into the “guilt by association game.”
