President-elect Donald Trump is visiting Washington, D.C. Wednesday, just a week after winning the 2024 election.

Wednesday morning he will head to the White House for a meeting with President Joe Biden after years of bitter political sparring on the campaign trail. Trump is also expected to meet with congressional GOP leaders Wednesday, according to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

Trump broke tradition when he did not extend the same invitation to Biden after losing the 2020 election. Trump also skipped Biden's inauguration, which outgoing presidents traditionally attend.

In a call congratulating Trump on his win last week, Biden also "expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to bring the country together," the White House said.
