Rapper Nelly joins other artists in performing on Trump Inauguration Day

WASHINGTON - American rapper and three-time Grammy award-winning artist Nelly will perform at the Liberty Ball on Inauguration Day, according to a press release from the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee.
The Liberty Ball is one of the three official inaugural balls that will take place on Monday. Nelly is set to perform after President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, the committee said.
“This marks a pivotal moment in our country where people from all backgrounds are joining together to commemorate President Trump's victory and the start of a new golden era for America,” the committee wrote in a press release.
Nelly is known for his 2000 hit song “Country Grammar,” where he mentions Trump in his lyrics. “Bill Gates, Donald Trump, let me in now. Spend now, I got money to lend my friends now,” the lyrics say.
He was arrested in August of last year for drug possession but did not face charges.
Nelly joins several other artists who will be performing at Trump’s inauguration, including country singers Carrie Underwood, who is slated to sing “America the Beautiful,” and Lee Greenwood, who will perform “God Bless the USA.”
