Trump invited by Speaker Johnson to give first address of term to Congress on March 4

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is tentatively set to make his first address to a joint session of Congress of his second term on Tuesday, March 4.
House Speaker Mike Johnson on Saturday invited Trump to appear that date before both chambers of Congress. The White House did not say whether Trump has agreed.
The first joint addresses to Congress by newly sworn-in presidents are not technically called "State of the Union" speeches, but they're delivered under the same circumstances. In his invitation, Johnson told Trump he looks forward to hearing him share his "America First vision for our legislative future."
Trump spent Saturday giving a victory lap speech in Las Vegas, claiming a historic week of action since his inauguration Monday. He also outlined plans to include his campaign proposal to end taxes on tips in a legislative package Republican lawmakers are finalizing.
"We've accomplished more in one week than other administrations have accomplished in four years, and we're just getting started," Trump said.
