Hillary Clinton to campaign for Kay Hagan in North Carolina

Hillary Rodham Clinton will hit the campaign trail Saturday, Oct. 25 to drum up early voting support for Sen. Kay Hagan of North Carolina.

The former secretary of State  will rally voters with Hagan at the convention center in Charlotte, two days after the early voting period begins in North Carolina. Hagan is locked in a tight battle with Republican Thom Tillis, the speaker of the North Carolina state House.

Clinton has encouraged women voters to make the 2014 midterm elections a priority, arguing they need to elect Democrats who will support equal pay for women, affordable childcare and paid sick leave to not just improve the lives of women but to help boost the entire U.S. economy.

"Kay and our campaign are so pleased to have Hillary Clinton join us in North Carolina to encourage early voting and talk about the importance of building an economy that works for everyone," said Sadie Weiner, communications director for Hagan's campaign.

Clinton's trip to North Carolina will be the day after she visits Maine on Friday, Oct. 24 to campaign for Democrat Mike Michaud, who is locked in a three-way race for governor. Michaud is running against Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler. Bill Clinton has already campaigned for Michaud, who has also received support from Michelle Obama and will host President Obama at a campaign event Oct. 30.

Clinton also has campaigned for Senate hopefuls Alison Lundergan Grimes in Kentucky and Gary Peters in Michigan, as well as Sen. Mark Udall in Colorado.
